Dynamic Line Rating
Real-time and forecast thermal ratings for overhead lines, span by span, from high-resolution weather modelling — no field hardware required.
See the real capacity of every line, in real time.
SUMO's Dynamic Line Rating calculates the true, weather-driven thermal capacity of each overhead line — span by span — turning static rating limits into the headroom operators can safely use. Every span is calculated from the moment the system goes live, using high-resolution microscale weather modelling, with no field hardware required.
Span-level, weather-driven ratings
Every span on the network is rated continuously from microscale weather data, so dispatchers use the real capacity of a line rather than a conservative static rating. New lines are added in hours through software configuration, not weeks of field deployment. When the customer wishes extra validation on locations along the line, third-party sensor feeds plug into the same platform.
From real-time to day-ahead
Span-level ampacity in real time, plus D-2 to intra-day forecast horizons, turns DLR from a real-time tool into a platform for operational planning, congestion management and proactive grid optimization. SUMO continuously tracks each conductor's thermal state, enabling time-to-overheat calculations and emergency ratings under dynamic operating conditions.
Built for the control room
Ratings, alerts and operational limits flow directly into operator screens and EMS applications over standard utility protocols — not isolated dashboards — with full N and N-1 contingency awareness implemented as a core operational capability.
